To further its mission of organizing the unorganized, UE is recruiting Young Activists across the country for an intensive one week union organizing drive to bring the UE message to non-union workers who would benefit from forming a union at their workplace. Local 896 COGS and UE will sponsor two 896 members to organize workers full time in Eastern Iowa the week of May 13-17, 2013. Activists will visit job sites and workers’ homes, conduct small group and one-on-one meetings with workers, and contribute to campaign strategy. Organizing training, transportation, and a stipend of $450 will be provided.
